Daniels Gate Recreation Center

Fall 2011 Newsletter

Dear Daniels Gate Residents,

2011 has proven to be a very busy year for the swimming pool and the clubhouse. We have seen the pool filled with many families enjoying the water and the clubhouse is being used on a weekly basis. The Daniels Gate Recreation Center (DGRC) Board is glad to see the increased volume of use and plans to make further improvements to the facility to make it even a nicer center.

As mentioned, the Board is busy making improvements and here is a summary of upcoming changes:

I.      Pool Area

·         Attendant Hours – Due to the increased use of the pool, we will be expanding the timeframe that the attendants are at the pool.  The longer times will be effective during the next pool season, initially for the months of June and July

·         Pool resurfacing – With the age and use of the pool, the surface was starting to wear down, so the surface of the pool was redone. The new surface will be better on your feet and will provide a long-lasting sealant. The tile and edging  area was also caulked to protect against any leaks.

·         Pool Parties – Due to popular demand, we will continue to have periodic events at the pool for the enjoyment of the residents. Announcements will be sent out, informing you of upcoming events.

·         Extended Pool Schedule – We will look at opening the pool earlier and extending the closing of the pool each season, based upon the weather.

II.      Clubhouse/Grounds Area

·         Landscape Improvements – Changes have been made to improve the appearance of the landscape in the front area of the property, especially in the areas by the clubhouse entrance and by the stairs. The landscape has not been changed for many years and I think you will all agree that it needed improving.

·         Cleaning Service – With the increase use of the clubhouse and pool, we will have our janitorial firm clean the bathroom area more frequently, especially during the busy summer months

·         Bike Racks – We have seen a great number of bicycles being brought to the pool this summer, with them being parked everywhere, which was causing a safety hazard. As such, a cement pad and multiple bike rack area was built in the grassy area on the north side of the pool.  This new area will provide better safety and protection of the bicycles.

·         Audio/Video System – There are plans to add a flat screen TV and a stereo/DVD system to the clubhouse so that renters can watch movies or listen to music for their events.

III.      DGRC Board

·         There is a change to the Board of Directors. Richard Storick, who has been representing Esperanza, Whisper Canyon, Daniels Ridge, and Coyote Crossing HOAs has decided to retire from the Board. In his place, Kristy Marocchi will step in and represent the same HOAs. Kristy is a resident of Esperanza and has held a past position on the Esperanza Board. Please welcome her to the DGRC Board. We also want to thank Richard for his dedication and hard work in helping to improve the pool and clubhouse facilities.

·         As a Daniels Gate Recreation Association homeowner, you are entitled to access and review the Association’s governing documents, financial statements, budgets, meeting minutes, and other documents. In order to do so, you will need a user ID and password. Please visit http://www.danielsgaterec.com/, click the Documents tab, and request your user ID and password from the link on that page. Once received, revisit the website and log in under the Home tab. Click the Documents tab and select the HOA Documents category per the instructions at the top of the page.

As mentioned earlier, we have seen a tremendous increase in the use of the recreation center. With the increase in usage, we have also seen an increase in damages and poor behavior in residents. Remember that this recreation center is for you and it is important to understand and follow the rules. Please treat the facility as if it were your own home, meaning pick up after yourself and try to keep the facility clean. Your fellow Daniels Gate residents will appreciate your efforts!

On behalf of the Daniels Gate Recreation Board, we want to thank you for your continued support. We are dedicated to making the recreation association a positive environment for all of us.
