Newsletter 2010

Dear Daniels Gate Residents,

In continuing to provide a better pool and clubhouse facility, the Daniels Gate Recreation Center Board is moving forward in implementing needed improvements.  The Board did a review of the 10 year facility plan and made assessments of the current infrastructure and vendors and has decided on several improvements:

I.The Board members are much the same, except for a change in the representative for the Romar HOA.  The current Board member are:

Teke Sankey: Representing North Lynx HOA

Dana Hall: Representing Romar HOA

Richard Storick: Representing Esperanza and Whisper Canyon HOAs

II.There are no new changes to the pool rules.  The pool rules and regulations are posted on our website and in the pool area.  Again, there will be no pool lifeguards but we will have a Pool Attendant, whose responsibility will be to monitor and maintain the pool area and to enforce the pool rules. We have made new arrangements with our pool vendor to ensure we have better quality Pool Attendants available for the season.

III.We have made improvements to the Clubhouse, including:

  • New tables and chairs
  • New carpet
  • Air Conditioning for the hot summer months
  • New plants and wall hangings
  • Initiating a landscape architect plan to allow for replacement and improvement of the trees/plants around the clubhouse and surrounding area.
  • New Janitorial service – focus will be to keep the clubhouse clean, aggressively maintain the restrooms (during the pool season) and proactively identify problems
  • New grounds maintenance contractor – to provide better service and support
  • We have modified the clubhouse rental fee – it is now $25.  This reduction is to better allow the residents the opportunity to utilize the clubhouse.  The new fee is to pay for the cleaning services required to clean the clubhouse after an event.

IV.We are initiating several enhancements to the pool area, including:

  • Pouring 4 concrete pads in the open lawn area, which will support picnic tables (this will allow residents to have food/drink while they are at the pool and keep items away from the pool area).
  • New pool furniture, including lounge chairs, tables, and umbrellas
  • Benches for the kiddie pool area (used for storing, sitting, etc.)
  • New tiles around the inside of the pool

V.Lastly, the biggest improvement we are making is to change the clubhouse reservation system and pool access.  We have had issues with the electronic card access system and the availability of information to residents related to reserving the clubhouse. The Board at Daniel’s Gate Recreation Association has decided to contract with MSI to provide the new reservation and entry services. This allows us to centralize the functions under one management company and allows us greater efficiency for communications and for addressing issues.

The current system will be upgraded in the coming weeks and one new entry card per house will be sent at no charge to the homeowner. Additional cards can be purchased for $5 by contacting MSI. The pictures that have been required in the past for the access cards will no longer be necessary. In the event that a registered card is lost, the replacement fee will be $15 per card and can be ordered through MSI. The new cards will be sent to the Daniels Gate residents within the first two weeks of May, in plenty of time for access to the pool during the Memorial Day Holiday weekend.

MSI provides an “on-call” service that is available after hours and on weekends, which means any issues that may arise with the new entry system or card can be addressed immediately upon correspondence. MSI’s telephone number is 303-420-4433. During standard business hours (Monday through Friday 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) please contact our Community Manager, Mark Hubert directly at 719-260-4542 or via e-mail at [email protected].

In addition to all the above activities, we are bringing in an outside consultant to do a Reserve Study, to help us determine if our reserves are above or below where it should be for the 20 year financial plan.

On behalf of the Daniels Gate Recreation Board, we want to thank you for your continued patience and support.  We look forward to a great pool season and hope you enjoy the improvements to the pool area and the clubhouse.  As always, we are dedicated to making the recreation association a positive environment for all of us.

Have a great summer!

The Daniels Gate Recreation Association Board
